Port Authority of NY and NJ

DVI has supported a large number of mission-critical government, transportation, and commercial systems initiatives over the years, often in conjunction with a technology relocation project or a technology refresh.

For The Port Authority of NY and NJ, Newark and JFK Airports DVI designed the following:

    • Intercom Systems
    • Duress Alarm System
    • New CCTV system
    • Fire Safety Garage Door System and
    • Crash Alarm System

Fiber optic backbone and local cables were used as the delivery platform between numerous facilities of the airport complex.  These systems were integrated with the CCTV system to allow call-up and recording of corresponding video cameras.  DVI was responsible for the migration management for the numerous applications systems.  DVI was responsible for implementation of all systems installed at the Police Desk.  On an application-by-application basis, the migration-relocation activity was a combination of design/design modifications, vendor coordination and implementation.

At Newark Airport, the Port Authority relocated its entire operations building functions and systems at Newark International Airport, from Building 10 to a new facility within Building 1, which was moved, renovated and expanded.  DVI’s responsibilities for this project were twofold.  DVI was responsible for the RFP generation, specification, vendor and system selection and implementation management of new CCTV systems and associated security systems.  In conjunction with the new CCTV system, DVI also designed Intercom Systems, Duress Alarm System, Fire Safety Garage Door System and Crash Alarm System implementation.  In total, ten (10) legacy and new systems were integrated to provide a unified Operations & Security Command and Control capability. Fiber optic backbone and local cables were used as the delivery platform between numerous facilities of the airport complex.  These systems were integrated with the CCTV system to allow call-up and recording of corresponding video cameras.  DVI was also responsible for the design and construction of a new Operations & Security Command Center facility with a large video wall and approximately twenty console operator positions.  Lastly, DVI was responsible for the migration management for the numerous applications systems currently housed in Building 10, including many mission critical systems in the Operation Control Center, Airside Operations, Landside Operations, and numerous Radio Systems including Police, ground-to-air, facilities and others.  We were also responsible for implementation of all systems installed at a separate Police Command Desk.  On an application by application basis, the migration/relocation activity was a combination of design, design modifications, vendor coordination and implementation management.

At JFK Airport, the Port Authority wished to deploy the same unified Operations and Security Command and Control facility. DVI performed the same role there that we performed on the Newark Airport, excluding the physical relocation of the building. Subsequent to the completion of the project, DVI has been engaged under a site management contract to periodically visit the site, inspect the systems and ensure that they are operating properly.
