In 1993, Bertelsmann acquired a Class A building at 1540 Broadway in order to consolidate their New York operations. The office was to serve as the USA Headquarters for several subsidiary companies: Bantam Doubleday Dell, Arista Records, BMG Entertainment, and RCA Victor. Bertelsmann occupied the entire building, consisting of 44 floors and 900,000 square feet of Class A commercial space.
For this large scale relocation project, Bertelsmann asked DVI Communications to provide them with a comprehensive spectrum of consulting and engineering services associated with the construction and deployment of the company’s new communications infrastructure and associated systems. DVI had full responsibility for the design, specification, procurement and implementation management of the communications infrastructure and corporate systems including: cabling, voice (PABX, TMS and voice mail) and rooftop systems (master antenna).
This project marked the beginning of the revival of NYC’s Time Square
district as a world center for a media and entertainment companies. With over
57,000 employees and 300 media companies in film, radio, television production,
book and music publishing, Bertelsmann ranks as the third largest media company
in the world.
